About the Adelaide Hills

Travelling from the Adelaide plains to the hills takes just minutes and transports you to another place. The change in altitude produces a whole new environment, cool, rich and fertile even in the hottest months. The Adelaide Hills offer a refreshing change of pace and produce.

The cooler climate also means this region is famed for its autumn show, when the turning foliage stains the hillsides deep red and golden yellow. The steep hills and valleys have created microclimates to nurture some of the state’s finest fresh fruit and vegetables. Fragile berries and stone fruits thrive here, alongside vineyards and smallholdings supplying local cheesemakers and smallgoods. The Hills are dotted with small producers doing what they do best, drawing on family traditions and kitchen secrets to create food you will never forget.

This is the food lover’s delight, to travel from farm gate to café to local produce store. Gather a harvest of great food and enjoy a picturesque picnic or settle back in one of the many cafes and restaurants in a pretty Adelaide Hills town and let the locals serve you up a feast.
