About the Riverland
The River Murray has fed the great farms since the banks of the mighty river were first settled and paddle steamers plied their trade. Now the winding river is a magnificent backdrop for time out and tasty treats ranging from export-quality citrus to dried fruits, almonds, olive oil, capers and handmade chocolates.
The Riverland is South Australia’s showcase for sustainable agriculture, where sunshine and innovative environmental management come together to serve the state, the nation and international markets with top quality produce. Most of South Australia’s citrus and stone fruit are grown in this region, along with around a third of Australia’s grapes. All this activity occurs alongside a landscape rich with wilderness experiences in the wetlands, lakes and along the river, which is also home to some fine freshwater fish.
If messing about in boat or lazing the day away in the liquid shade of a majestic river gum before dining really well is your thing, the Riverland can offer you the very best.
